Stobi’s Indigenous Wines featured in The Grapevine

We are delighted to see two of Stobi’s indigenous wines featured in the latest issue of The Grapevine magazine. Titled Macedonian Marvels, Steph from the Chichester branch talks about the Stobi Vranec red wine and Stobi Žilavka white wine, both popular choices from Macedonia’s modern winery which is located in the heart of the Tikveš region.We were pleased to get such great tasting notes for both wines from Steph. We were pleased to get such great tasting notes for both wines from Steph. Of the Vranec she says “Congratulations Stobi – this is a brilliant bottle of wine! Made from the local Vranec grape it’s got a lovely punch to it with dark cherry, mocha and liquorice flavours. Lovely soft tannins and a hit of cassis. If you like your reds with flavour and poise then this is a must-try wine.” On the Žilavka, “A wine from Macedonia certainly isn’t something you see every day, and that’s exactly what I love about working in wine; it’s all about exploring and learning something new, My once shocking knowledge of geography is improving on a daily basis and this great zingy white is another geographical box I was more than happy to tick off. The grape variety Žilavka is something you are likely only to know if you are Macedonian. If you’re not, then it’s pretty close to Sauvignon Blanc, with crisp lemon and white peach flavours. The great difference with this is however, is the subtle spicy white pepper finish – it really adds some complexity to it. Go on; try something new in the springtime sun.”
