Signature Wines was pleased to showcase Stobi’s wine selection at Flagship Wines Annual tasting last week, where the great and good of St Albans wine lovers came to sample the selection from the Eastern Mediterranean region of Macedonian.
This was an important event to attend to ensure Flagship customers were well acquainted with the new wines from Stobi which join their wine list this month. The wine tasting, took place on Friday 17th at St Albans Boys' School, Abbey Mill Lane, St. Albans and was a huge success with 125 people in attendance. The Stobi stand was inundated with guests all evening and for most it was their first taste of wines from the Tikves region in Macedonia. Hugely impressed by each wine’s interesting character and intense flavours, lots of orders were placed on the night which reassured Flagship Wines that Stobi’s wines were a good selection for their store. Huge discussions ensued on the differences between the indigenous Vranec and Vranec Veritas Reserve; with most people expressing the Vranec Veritas Reserve was more full bodied and could be aged for 2-3 years. The whites were not overlooked, with many guests appreciating the unique floral flavours and fresh finish of the Stobi Muscat Ottonel. General observations included “great food wines”, “good value” and “difficult to pronounce at first, but really interesting wines”. Dominic Thranum, Business Development Manager at Signature Wines attended the tasting and commented, “Having worked with Julia before I know what a great event the Flagship Wine Fair is, with customers who are knowledgeable about great wines, so it was a great time to launch Stobi wines with Flagship. With over 125 people on the night it was incredibly busy, but great fun and I was delighted to have such interesting discussions with customers about the wine, their heritage and history. It was really gratifying to realise so many high value sales that will hopefully turn into repeat business, for me this was the measure of the great reaction to the wines. I look forward to showing the wines again in St Albans and in other regions around the UK.” Signature Wines was delighted to support Flagship Wines at their tasting event and hopes this will be the start of a great working relationship with store owner Julia Jenkins and Signature Wines. Julia commented: "I was delighted to have the chance to show my customers a range of well made wines from Macedonia such as those from Stobi at our Annual Wine Fair. I had tasted them twice before our event and was pleased that they received a very positive response from our customers at the event reflected in the orders placed."
