Signature's Business Development Manager said, “It was my first visit to Pitbauchlie House Hotel, and I was delighted to find out that the house and Stobi Wines share an incredible story!” The Peacock symbolises immortality and can be seen on every bottle and cork which represents the history of the region, famously coming from mosaic floors of the ancient Roman ruins at Stobi. Today, you will still see Peacocks on the grounds of the Winery, and also on their local currency, (the Macedonian Denar), reinforcing how important this heritage is to Stobi. However, in Dumfirmline, where Pitbauchlie House is located, they also have resident Peacocks which roam free in the town’s Pittencrieff Park. Originally a gift in 1905 from a civil servant who spent time in India (where Peacocks originate) gifted them to the town where their offspring now live.
At the end of the event, guests mingled to the history and heritage of Stobi in addition to Signature Wine’s journey over the last 18 months to date. There was also an opportunity for guest to purchase wine at the end of the event. Wine featured includes the Muscat Ottonel, Vranec Veritas Reserve, Syrah Barrique and the brand new Zilavka. Managing Director of Wine Importers Billy Bell said, “I was very shocked by the response of the guests on the night. The evening was fantastic and this has been our most successful event to date.” The event which runs 4 times a year was such a success that Signature Wines has been invited to showcase Stobi once again for their autumn event.
