A View from the Inside - Each month we talk to people who work, live and love wine. This month we chat to Brett Dawson from Turton Wines who stocks the entire Stobi range of red and white wines.
1. What made you stock Stobi? We love wines from unusual places and when we tasted these at SITT Manchester last year we knew we had to stock them.
2. You selected all 8 Stobi’s wines. What impressed you so much? Amazing quality for the price.
3. How do you get your customers to try something new? Most shops may struggle with this but we are renowned for our unusual wine selection so its our bread and butter really.
4. What’s the best thing about being an independent? Being able to do something different to the rest.
5. What’s your opinion of health warnings on wine? I think an understated warning on the back is a good thing, I don’t want to see someone’s diseased liver on my wine bottle!!
6. Do you think duty should be cut on alcohol? Yes.
7. Favourite thing from childhood? Peas and tomatoes.
8. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why? Somewhere close. I don’t fit in plane seats very well (I’m a rugby player) Just been to Lisbon and want to go back.
9. A perfect weekend includes…..rugby, wine and relaxation.
10. Describe the Stobi Vranec Veritas in 3 words. Stunning. Great. Value.
