Eastern European Wines Gain Further Prominence in UK

We were delighted to see a recent article in The Drinks Business about Moldova and its wines, which are being imported into the UK in ever-increasing numbers.
The article praises the quality of Moldovan grapes and jokes that “In fact, grapes are so important in Moldova that the country is shaped like a bunch of them. Coincidence or a deeply rooted (no pun intended) homage to the vine?” Although you may be surprised that we’re so supportive of the produce of a country other than Macedonia, the explanation is simple – we’re passionate about getting Eastern European wines the recognition they deserve in the UK and think it’s fantastic that the market is recognising their potential. Eastern Europe is home to some truly delicious wines, often made from unique grape varieties like Vranec and Žilavka, that will surprise and delight UK drinkers. Not only are they flavoursome, but Eastern European wines also offer great value to the consumer, as their lack of recognition in the marketplace and low production costs enable high quality wines to be sold at attractive prices.
