Signature Wines, the exclusive UK importers for the Stobi Winery, has announced today that the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine) has registered the Republic of Macedonia along with a broad range of grape varieties.
Indigenous varietal Vranec is included along with the Macedonian spelling using the letter ‘e’. Business Development Manager for Signature Wines said, “This is great news as it coincides with our first shipment of wines which have just reached our shores. Although our range is broad and includes Syrah, Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir Rose, Vranec forms the cornerstone of the Stobi collection as it is indigenous to the region and the top variety grown in Macedonia. This announcement is perfectly timed." Signature Wines is bringing a range of eight wines into the UK including Vranec Classic, Vranec Veritas Reserve, Syrah Barrique, Petit Verdot Barrique, Chardonnay, Stobi Cuvée, Pinot Noir Rose and Muscat Ottonel. Signature Wines has been presenting the wines since early summer and received significant interest from the trade looking to invest in this emerging region.
