Stock up on Wine Before the Christmas Rush

The signs are that consumer spending is healthy, despite the various political and economic shocks that 2016 has delivered.
As such, we’re predicting healthy wine sales throughout the Christmas period, which means that retailers are advised to keep well stocked right up to the 24th December – at least you’ll get a few days’ break before the New Year’s Eve rush begins! Christmas can be a very expensive time for families, with the average person spending over £500 on food, gifts and decorations. While some people will want to splurge on very special bottles for the celebrations, others will be on the lookout for great value wines that deliver high quality for a budget-friendly price. We think that Stobi wines fit perfectly into this category. Made by our expert winemakers in Macedonia, the wines utilise a variety of local and worldwide grape varieties to produce delicious and memorable aromas and flavours. Although the techniques and expertise used to create the wines are first class, and based on a winemaking heritage that spans centuries, the wines do not come with a hefty price tag as the region is not well known by UK customers. The wines’ exotic provenance brings other benefits too. The fact that our winery is based by one of the world’s prominent archaeological sites, reflecting a diverse cultural history, makes for a wonderful story to spark customers’ imaginations. Why not start off with the story of the Stobi peacock, which you can find on our blog? We think our wines make great choices for the festive table. Don’t take our word for it, however, we’ve also been given great reviews by critics such as Jancis Robinson, who remarked that our “Stobi Vranec 2011 Tikves is superbly mature and would cost twice as much if it came from somewhere more mainstream than the republic of Macedonia. It was blended, obviously skilfully, by my fellow Master of Wine Caroline Gilby, a specialist in matters vinous and eastern European.”
