Wine Wonders of Eastern Europe

Take a look at Harper’s on-line today and you will see a positive piece about wines emerging from Eastern and Central Europe.Wine writer Mike Matthews started his career in wine nearly 20 years ago and comments in this article on the changing fortunes of wine from this region.
Mike says “As with other regions around Eastern Europe there are a lot of unknown grapes out there to be tapped into. The wines already noted have done just that’s with the Balkans Vranec and Bulgaria’s Gamza, rich red variety with the potential to break Cabernet Sauvignon, and other international grapes, hold on the market.” Mike summarises, “There are a lot of hidden gems yet to be discovered.”
