Stobi wines from Macedonia in the heart of the Eastern Mediterranean, is gaining popularity in the UK, not only on the shelves of independent wines stores and wine chains, but also in the media.
Stobi’s Macedonian wines are gaining great respect and feedback for their wines, especially for indigenous varieties like the Vranec varieties which have intensely attractive flavours at highly desirable price points.
The Emerging Regions Tasting proved to be yet another busy event for Signature Wines and the Stobi range from Macedonian which was showcased at the event yesterday.
The sensory examination and evaluation of wine is traditionally called a wine tasting and is a great way to introduce new wines and regions to customers.
Stobi winery was delighted with the results of the Balkan International Wine Competition in Bulgaria where Stobi won a gold medal for their Syrah Barrique 2011 in addition to Silvers for both the indigenous Vranec Veritas Reserve and their delightful Chardonnay.
Derek Smedley is a respected member of the wine trade and has been a MW since 1968. Signature Wines was delighted when Derek offered to share his memories of his first trip to Macedonia along with his tasting notes from the Stobi Winery.
